Sericulture and Silk Weaving Woodblock Prints

Ukiyo-e woodblock prints depicting sericulture and silk weaving—covering everything from raising of silkworms to silk thread reeling and weaving—were created in great numbers during the latter part of the Edo Period, which lasted from 1600 to 1868, up through the second decade of the Meiji Period (final decade or so of the nineteenth century). The Silk Museum has approximately 200 such woodblock prints.
